I had quite a productive weekend.

Got the piles of Faire stuff removed from the living room, and all of the laundry (including costume bits) washed, but not necessarily put away.

Then I cleaned up the kitchen and scrubbed the stove (scary!)

Then, as if that were not enough, I decided to try out our new carpet cleaner (obtained from Mom's garage sale pile) and cleaned the carpet in the family room.  I did half of the room each day.  This seemed the easiest way because it only required moving furniture to the other side of the room.  This is one of those home grade Hoover hot water carpet cleaners.  It actually works pretty well.  Still a few of the stained areas showing, but I will try hitting those again.  I would say that the carpet is not as clean as if I had hired a professional, but this was much cheaper, I could do it at my convenience, the carpet looks 1000% better than it did, and I have a sense of accomplishment for the weekend!  Pretty good deal overall.

I loooooove my home hot water carpet thingy too!! I need to do the living room before the 12th....that just requires motivation....like you, i really don't like how expensive calling someone out can get. And, my job is good enough for me. Nothing a little spot resolve won't fix before a good run w/ the carpet machine.
