Sunday at Faire
Oct. 17th, 2005 01:29 pmFinally made it to the Renaissance Faire for this year, on the last day! aleeceh and I managed to make some bits and borrow other bits for a costume for
kellilorenz so she could be dressed funny like we were.
jasonr91745 also went along, but in street clothes (we won't hold it against him.)
This was our first time to attend the Northern Faire since they moved to Casa de Fruita. The last few times we have been to Faire it was to the Heart of the Forest Faire at Stafford Lake Park. My overall impression of the Northern Faire was favorable. The weather was beautiful. The Faire was large with lots of shopping, food, ale, and games. The Faire site at Casa de Fruita was quite shady, and parking was free. I thought the Faire lacked some in the number of street performers. I saw two places where street musicians were supposed to be performing, but never actually heard/saw the musicians. My companions swear they saw the Queen's procession go by, but I never noticed it. Not sure how one can be at Faire for over 6 hours and not see the Queen's procession. aleeceh said they just kind of walked through quietly without much fanfare :-( .
Then there is the long drive down to Casa de Fruita. Adding 4-5 hours of driving on to a long day at Faire leaves one pretty wiped out. I think I will likely stick to the Heart of the Forest Faire in future years.
